Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo/Pat Conroy

This week I read the new Pat Conroy book, called My Reading Life.  It is a critique of literature with the customary Conroyesque family travails, intertwined therein.   Primarily it discusses the books and teachers that influenced him.

Among the books Conroy rates highly is the classic magic realism style book Pedro Páramo.   It was one of the few books written by Rulfo, but many consider it among the latin american classics that have achieved stardom outside of latin american/spanish language literary circles.
