 Juan M Del Potro, el número uno del tenis argentino, perdía esta noche 4 a 1 en el primer set con el alemán Tommy Haas, en una de las semifinales del ATP de Washington, en Estados Unidos, pero la lluvia obligó a la suspensión del partido.Del Potro, ubicado en el séptimo puesto del ranking mundial de la ATP, exhibió hasta el momento del agua un pobre nivel ante Haas (12) en 26 minutos de juego.
El tandilense, dos veces campeón en Washington (2008 y 2009), se instaló en semifinales tras vencer sucesivamente al local Ryan Harrison (107), al australiano Bernard Tomic (40) y al sudafricano Kevin Anderson (21).
Delpo, de 24 años, superó al veterano teutón de 35 años en los cruces de Washington 2008, Viena 2011, Cincinnati 2012 e Indian Wells 2013.
El argentino, campeón este año en Rotterdam y finalista en Indian Wells, es el máximo favorito al título en Washington, un torneo que tuvo en su historia otros tres campeones argentinos: Guillermo Vilas en 1975, 1977 y 1979; José Luis Clerc en 1981 y 1983, y David Nalbandian en 2010.
El abierto, que reparte premios por 1.546.590 dólares, forma parte de la gira sobre cemento previa al US Open, cuarto y último Grand Slam del año.

TOMMY HAAS GANA A SUS 35 - MUNICH TENIS

LONDON, May 5 (Reuters) - Germany's Tommy Haas beat compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3 7-6 to win the Munich Open on Sunday and become the first 35-year-old to win an ATP title in five years.
In the first all-German final in Munich since 1965, Haas held off a late fightback from Kohlschreiber to follow Fabrice Santoro who won in Newport at the same age in 2008.
"It's a sensational feeling to be quite honest," Haas said on the ATP website (www.atptour.com) after winning his first title in 11 months.
"It was another one of those milestones that I hoped for, to maybe win this title one year. To have done that, this late in my career, is a big highlight for me.
"Every time you win a title, it's a reflection of putting everything together the whole week. It doesn't happen that often. You're really proud of those moments."
Haas's fourth title on home soil and 14th overall will move him up to number 13 in the world rankings on Monday. (Reporting by Toby Davis; editing by Pritha Sarkar)
