Americas Society- Margarita Zavala de Calderón

Last week Susan Siegal, President of the Americas Society,  presented the Americas Society Gold Medal for community service to the retiring first lady of Mexico, Margarita Zavala de Calderón.

For SHD members visiting NYC with some free time, it is an easy subway ride north to 680 Park Ave., from mid-town 42nd St to get to the Americas Society headquarters. This organization has many ongoing events of interest, including an upcoming interview with the author of Bacardí and the long fight for Cuba  Tom Gjelten later in October 2012  http://www.as-coa.org/literature/events

Mario Vargas Llosa will speak at the Society in November about his latest book- accompanied by Edith Grossman who must be the most prominent translator from Spanish to English on this earth!

There are not enough hours in the day to do the things I would like to do!
