American Mardy Fish has advanced through the first round of the 2012 U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Fish was tested through his opening-round match by Go Soeda of Japan. The two men battled through tiebreaks in the first two sets, but Fish was finally able to overtake Seoda in the final set and take the match 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2), 6-3.
Fish, the No. 23 seed, won the match on the strength of his serve. He finished with 12 aces to just three for Seoda, and won 75% of his first-serve points compared to 63% for his opponent. Fish's second serve was also effective, garnering 62% of the points, compared to 49% for Geoda,

Ahora le ha llegado a Mardy una barrera dificil de atravesar. El partido conbtra Djokovic no sera "pan con mantequilla", y si llega a ganar esta etapa, posiblemente llegue a las semifinales o a la final; por haora el Djoko es un hueso muy duro de roer, sobre todo con la ausencia de Nadal y la presencia de este Roger que aun sabe como ganar una manga...o dos.
