Julia Child of Mexico (cilantro/soap?)

This program was on NPR last week. The irony is that Julia Child notoriously disliked Mexican food. I heard from a chef friend that some people have a genetic switch that makes cilantro taste like soap. I am curious if anyone has experienced this. Diana Kennedy is a British woman who has lived and tooled around Mexico for over 50 years and has written several books on Mexican cuisine.
